Danube Delta

Conservation project

The Romanian Ornithological Society (SOR) is a small but increasingly active bird conservation society. The SOR representative in the delta, Eugen Petrescu, is sometimes also our holiday leader - and always the father of our other regular leader, Daniel Petrescu. Our contribution goes towards a group of young naturalists called Falco cherrug (the saker) which he runs, providing the delta’s conservationists for the future.
