Discovering Menorca 16 – 23 April 2010

Flight cancellations due to volcanic dust meant this group was cancelled on the day of departure. We re-scheduled to 14 21 May 2010 for the group members who could make these later dates. Chris Gibson led this group.

Leaders

Chris Gibson is a conservation officer for Natural England working in north Essex and an author of several wildlife books. He has led many holidays for Honeyguide, including on Menorca. He is an outstanding all round naturalist, from birds through flowers to moths, and great fun to be with.

Maureen Gibson, Chris’s wife, shares the same variety of interests, and they have co-led several holidays for Honeyguide on Crete and in both the French and Spanish Pyrenees. Chris says she’s a valuable moderating influence on his enthusiasm for the esoteric, and brings artistic and horticultural skills to the partnership. Oh, and she took the fine photo of him on the right.

Chris Gibson

A naturalist of distinction.  Any Honeyguider who has travelled with Chris Gibson knows this is an apt description, but now it's official as Chris was presented with a prestigious Naturalist Award on 9 May by David Bellamy for the British Naturalists’ Association. This award is given annually to ‘a field naturalist of distinction’. Read more here.
