Leaders

Chris Durdin is the founder and driving force who started Honeyguide in 1991. For many years he has combined this with his work for the RSPB in Eastern England, presently as the Society’s spokesman, though after 30 years with the RSPB is concentrating on Honeyguide full-time from the end of 2008. He’s an all rounder as a naturalist, and this year is taking advantage of having more time to return to Extremadura, Algarve, the Dordogne (for the 6th time) and the French Pyrenees, as well as a Cambridge U3A group in Crete (not in the brochure).

Deric Brown is a keen birdwatcher who runs the Hotel Belavista in Praia da Luz where we stay, and has unofficially helped to lead our last three holidays here. This time, it’s official. His wife Kate introduced him to birdwatching; their honeymoon day was at RSPB Minsmere!
